…… Then why call him God? – Epicurus

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
– Epicurus
Above statement is probably one of the dumbest things to proceed from human heart then through human mouth.

Is God willing?
I am sure the Cross answers this question.
This is exactly why he sent his Son to offer up his body as a sacrifice for sin.
Does God force people tp do what he said?
No. Even though he is omnipotent, he is still willing for men to repent of their sins as he commands them to do.
Jesus could have called twelve legions of angels to disarm those who came to arrest him that night. But he did not, he wanted to overcome the world for us. He wanted to say to us that it is possible to live happy and without fear if we follow him.
God is able to do anything and it is incredible that  anyone could have a problem with this obvious truth and fact.
The God who gave the world love is not malevolent.

HOWEVER he MUST be obeyed.

Just enjoying a great meal is more evidence of his love. Taking a walk through a park where lovely flowers bloom and happy children are playing. Where couples walk in love and abundant for all is the air to breathe .

He is able, he is willing and evil comes from plain old ugly DISOBEDIENCE  to what he commands. How easy to again blame God for man’s unwillingness to love even their enemies. It is easier to blame God than quit sinning.

He is God and he will be called God because he is God.
I just commented on another site to another “reason” why Japan was devastated with a horrible earthquake.
The person said that it happened because of a shift in the tectonic plates.
I disagree this is all there is to it.

Jesus said before he said there would be earthquakes, that there would be WARS and rumors of WARS. Nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. Heart attacks and fear of what is taking place brought on by their own sins and evil.
Did God send the earthquake?
The tectonic plates did not shift per se. The shift began in Eden when man shifted his attention to the serpent and actually took the word of a snake over the word of their Creator.
“Okay devil we will do what you say and eat from where GOD told us NOT to eat. After all you and we know better than God.” is basically what they said and did.”
Jesus also said that if we DID NOT  praise him (this is not necessarily jumping up and down and shouting and clapping alone) the “rocks would cry out.”
He meant also we are to praise him with our lives.
How we live and how we treat others is how he sees it.
It is what we do more than what we say that is real.
If we love and forgive we are in essence praising him.

If not the rocks will cry out and if the tectonic plates cannot be called rocks what can be?
When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the
Lord!”“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
“I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the rocks will cry out.” (Luke 19:28-40)

Jesus wasn’t whistling dixie when he said that. His words carry weight and authority.  They are power and might. They will not return to him void as the Bible says. Like when he told the blind to see they saw. When he told the  crippled to walk they walked. When he cried out for the dead Lazarus to “come forth!” the dead man came forth alive and well

The rocks (nature) is crying out in the weather patterns.
The rocks are crying out in earthquakes and hurricanes and tornadoes and tsunamis.
If anyone claims that some do praise him..than please by all means tell why most of the world is not even a believer in Jesus the Christ?
Two-thousand years and still only a few Christians. It is obvious the gospel was not and is not shared.
He is not praised for all his love and goodness he pours out on a world that treats him like dirt.
Wars, divorces and hatred and poverty and crime and other sins… and on and on the list goes of the evil man does against God..
than has the NERVE to blame him.
Like this Epicurus whoever he thought he was to attack the holiness and righteousness of God.
