Jesus Healing of Demoniac Resulted in Delivered Man Wearing Clothes!

Mark 5:2As Jesus stepped out of the boat, a man came out of the tombs and met him. The man was controlled by an evil spirit 3and lived among the tombs. No one could restrain him any longer, not even with a chain. 4He had often been chained hand and foot. However, he snapped the chains off his hands and broke the chains from his feet. No one could control him. 5Night and day he was among the tombs and on the mountainsides screaming and cutting himself with stones.

[As this man abused himself his soul suffered as well as his mind and body. He referred to himself as Legion. He said he was many. Schizophrenic on a massive scale. Confused and frightened and alone. Satan had a stronghold in his life thus controlling his behavior. He was a tormented human being. I do not believe Satan walked up to this man one day to ask him for control of his life. Possibly he deceitfully worked on him little by little until the man was possessed. With possession came the cutting, the screaming, the nudity, the chains, the living in isolation away from other people.]

6The man saw Jesus at a distance. So he ran to Jesus, bowed down in front of him, 7and shouted, “Why are you bothering me now, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won’t torture me.” 8He shouted this because Jesus said, “You evil spirit, come out of the man.”

[The man wanted to be free from his naked tormenting prison of shame and isolation. He lived away from the populace.}

9Jesus asked him, “What is your name?

He told Jesus, “My name is Legion [Six Thousand], because there are many of us.” 10He begged Jesus not to send them out of the territory.

[It appears the man and the devils were entwined were one. The man’s tongue was used by the demons to beg Jesus not to cast them out. Where could they live and behave insanely if they did not have a body?].

11A large herd of pigs was feeding on a mountainside nearby. 12The demons begged him, “Send us into the pigs! Let us enter them!

13   Jesus let them do this. The evil spirits came out of the man and went into the pigs. The herd of about two thousand pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea and drowned.

[The pigs ran in suicidal torment to die rather than live as demons.]

14Those who took care of the pigs ran away. In the city and countryside they reported everything that had happened. So the people came to see what had happened. 15They came to Jesus and saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons. The man was sitting there dressed and in his right mind. The people were frightened. 16Those who saw this told what had happened to the demon-possessed man and the pigs. (Emphasis mine)

[There is no getting around it that when the demons were cast out of this tormented man by the Lord the man quieted down and was clothed; with his mind thinking intelligently.]

The man wanted to go with Jesus but the Lord told him to go tell what the Lord had done for him. This would include restoring his mind which mind decided to wear clothes.

Focus Adjustment to the Blood of Jesus Christ

The Last Supper of Jesus Christ

Image via Wikipedia

BUT it is the blood of Jesus that is needed.

Do we even hear about the blood anymore? Where? Not on Christian television which I don’t really pay attention to anymore because it is focused on money and celebrities and ratings.

It is sad to hear TBN introduce someone naming all their so-called successes in life. Life coaches and best-selling authors. They are big celebrities with their introductions. Such as “Tonight we are so blessed and privileged to have with us writer and life coach , actor, doctor, lawyer, mayor, governor, …and minister.”

Minister comes last in the list. Yes that is right GOD comes last! Do they really think this is okay with God? I think not. Go read about what he said about this in the Bible. He is first and last he will stay first and last..no matter what.

They go on naming off all their worldly accomplishments such as their degrees. They mention their success as an actor who appeared on such and such a show. They applaud their endeavors in Hollywood. It is all about the person. Then at the very end of all the big introduction naming all their worldly successes they add that he is also….a pastor. As if God is something thrown in just because they want to..

Of course they give God all the glory for making them so successful for all their education their money their riches their popularity their wonderful life and so on.

Personally..I don’t need a pastor who writes best-selling books. Or one who used to star in the old comedy sitcom. Or the one who started out on Broadway then decided to be a pastor. And who now pastors a church with 1000000000 members. I need a pastor who prays and pleads the blood of Jesus Christ. I remember them well.

Do they even talk about the blood of Jesus Christ?

No it is all about celebrity and Hollywood and money and success.

If it were all about that there would be no need for Jesus Christ. The world does fine without him as we can see. There are rich blasphemers. What does this tell us?

The world and the church are not one and the  same. Yet this is what TBN and other so-called religious programs try to make it be.

I personally believe this is why the world is in the horrible condition it is in. Because it is not longer the blood of Jesus they talk about but themselves and their great accomplishments.

Does money and celebrity have anything to do with salvation? No.

So and so became rich and is an atheist. So and so Christian became rich and shouts praise to God for making them rich.

Here is their crazy message:

Atheists can get rich denying God. But if one who believes in God gets rich it is because God did it.

What is wrong with this picture?

The Bible is the Word of God

MOSES BREAKS THE TABLES OF THE LAW.—Exodus xxx...

Image via Wikipedia

There are some out there who claim the Bible is not the word of God.

The Bible IS the written word of God.

When God said Let there be light, it isn’t difficult to understand that what God said IS his Word. What I say is my word, what you say is your word..So it follows that when Moses wrote down what God SAID; he wrote down God’s WORD so the Bible is the word of God.

The Bible doesn’t say at the beginning This is the word of God…but it does say at the beginning on its first page In the beginning GOD created the heaven and the earth. It says the earth was without form and void. That darkness was upon the face of the deep. Then it goes on that the spirit of God moved upon the face of the deep. Then it continues with And God said Let there be light. And there was light. And God saw that the light was good.

The Bible doesn’t tell us many things but the concept is there.

I like what Tim Lahaye said once..”There are only two lines of thought which permeate all literature: God’s thoughts and man’s thoughts.”
Everything said by the human race can only be good or bad.

And the Book that tells us the story of Jesus is the word of God.

The Seriousness of Salvation

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him (Hebrews 2: 3).

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12).

I recall reading the following sad account years ago. Skeptics may say it is a story concocted by Christians to scare sinners into repentance. But it is absurd it is impossible a Christian would write such a thing if not true. No Christian would play around with such things for any reason:

The following incident is concerning a young lady, who, under deep conviction for sin, left a revival meeting to attend a dance which had been gotten up by a party of ungodly men, for the purpose of breaking up the meeting.  She caught a severe cold at the dance and was soon on her death bed.

In conversation with a minister, she said, “Mr. Rice, my mind was never clearer. I tell you all today that I do not wish to be a Christian. Don’t want to go to heaven — would not if I could. I would rather go to hell than heaven, they need not keep the gates closed.” “But you don’t want to go to hell, do you Jennie?” was asked.

She replied, “No, Mr. Rice. O, that I had never been born. I am suffering now the agonies of the lost. If I could but get away from God; but no, I must always see Him and be looked upon by Him. How I hate Him — I cannot help it.

I drove His Spirit from my heart when He would have filled it with His love; and now I am left to my own evil nature — given over to the devil for my eternal destruction. My agony is inexpressible! How will I endure the endless ages of eternity? Oh that dreadful, unlimited, unfathomable eternity.” When asked by Mr. Rice how she got into that despairing mood, she replied, “It was that fatal Friday evening last winter when I deliberately stayed away from the meeting to attend the dance. I felt so sad, for my heart was tender — I could scarcely keep from weeping.

I felt provoked to think that my last dance, as I felt it to be for some cause, should be spoiled. I endured it until I became angry, then with all my might I drove the influence of the Spirit away from me, and it was then that I had the feeling that He had left me forever.

I knew that I had done something terrible, but it was done. From that time I have had no desire to be a Christian, but have been sinking down into deeper darkness and more bitter despair. And now all around, and above and beneath me are impenetrable clouds of darkness. O, the terrible gloom; when will it cease?” She then sank away and lay like one dead a short time. But she raised her hand slightly, her lips quivering as if in the agonies of death, her eyes opened with a fixed and awful stare, and then gave such a despairing groan that sent the chill blood to every heart. “Oh, what horror,” whispered the sufferer.

Then turning to Mr. Rice, she said, “Go home now and return this evening. I don’t want you to pray for me. I don’t want to be tormented with the sound of prayer.” About four o’clock she inquired the time, and upon being told exclaimed, “O, how slowly the hours wear away. This day seems an age to me. O, how will I endure eternity?” In about an hour she said, “How slowly the time drags. Why may I not cease to be?” About seven P. M. she sent for Mr. Rice.

As he approached her bed Jennie said to him, “I want you to preach at my funeral. Warn all of my young friends against the ball-room. Remember everything I have said and use it.” He replied, “How can I do this? Jennie, how I do wish you were a good Christian, and had a hope of eternal life.”! ‘Now, Mr. Rice, I don’t want to hear anything about that. I do not want to be tormented with the thought. I am utterly hopeless; my time is growing short; my fate is eternally fixed/ I die without hope because I insulted the Holy Spirit so bitterly.

He has justly left me alone to go down to eternal night. He could not have borne with me any longer and followed farther and retained His divine honor and dignity. I wait but a few moments, and as much as I dread it, I must quit these mortal shores. I would delay, I would linger — but no!

The fiends, they come; O save me! They drag me down! Lost! lost! lost!” she whispered as she struggled in the agonies of death. A moment more and she rallied and with glazed eyes she looked upon her weeping friends for the last time, then the lids sank partly down and pressed out a remaining tear as she whispered, “Bind me, ye chains of darkness! Oh! that I might cease to be, but still exist.

The worm that never dies, the second death.” The spirit fled, and Jennie Gordon lay a lifeless form of clay. — The Unequal Yoke, by J. H. Miller

Earthquake Pearl Harbor Payback?

Luke 13:1 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5. No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. (Acts 16:26)

Notice in this great earthquake that the prison doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed? God did this. God wants people free not locked in prisons. God wants people free not enslaved in any way.

Some of the Muslim world was celebrating when 9/11 happened seeing it as judgment from Allah on the great Satan..  But Jesus doesn’t see it that way. All the evil that takes place in America daily is proof that something is seriously wrong here in America . Disaster can come to anyone at anytime no person or nation is exempt from suffering and pain.

I’m sure  many have seen how some  tweeters and others online have said the earthquake in Japan is payback for Pearl Harbor.

As if the millions of lives lost and damaged with the horror of what was done to Hiroshima and Nagasaki is nothing to God. That all those souls he died  for was a mistake on God’s part. Seeing God as a fool who delights in causing pain and suffering.  But the truth of the matter is it is man  who does all this evil not God.

I wonder how these people who are mocking Japan’s pain and suffering account for Katrina.  The Gulf Oil Spill? Mine disasters? Who was God avenging then?  9/11?  Tornadoes? Floods?  Hurricanes? Wars and those MIA for years? Was this God’s karma on all those people, many of them Christians.

Disasters regularly hit America and the world square in the face.

Remember the 7.9 earthquake that hit the Bay area on October 17, 1989? A blessing on America? AIDS? God smiled his biggest smile when he sent AIDS to bless us?

Do they think God sent cancer as a blessing to America?  Death and destruction in many forms that suddenly appear out of nowhere to kill and destroy life and property in America. How do these mockers account for them? The fact is it is the result of sin in the universe.

A blessing from God on America? Or is God doing it to avenge someone he likes better?

How about serial killers that have been born, raised, and do all their killing here in America? There are so many one have to google it to find the number and that is just the ones caught.

All the abducted people reported as missing? Blessings or judgments or it just happened? Did God forget these children?

What about those evil people who abduct and rape and murder their victims right here in America? Sent from God to bless America?

According to them all the evil in America is a blessing from God. A big pat on America’s back from God for America being so holy. Disasters are in no way blessings.

Do they think 9/11 was a big surprise blessing from God to put happy faces on all the people who lost loved ones when the planes hit? And a “Don’t worry Be Happy t-shirt on all the dead  of 9/11.

Or what about America being number one in obesity and heart attacks? God is smiling at us?

Maybe  our national debt is what convinces them that America is special and exempt from the judgments of God.  How much America is loved throughout the world? Is this a blessing? Maybe it is our failing economy, unemployment, divorce rate,  poverty, children left behind, our war dead, diabetes, brain tumors, diabetes, leukemia, aneurysms,  anorexia, car wrecks that take thousand of lives yearly, teenage suicide,  alcoholism, divorces, jails, prisons, insane asylums, and cancer being misinterpreted as  bad things when in reality it is all a sign of God’s approval on America.

Big blessings sent by God to put big happy faces on the victims.

Should these folks who mock Japan’s pain and suffering from this earthquake see the drug problems, diseases, obesity, and the wild beasts (are now colonizing our nation)  as blessings from God?

I could go on and on listing the many evils that is destroying this nation but these few are enough to show that God is against SIN not people!

God said in his WORD:

The person who sins will die. A son will not be punished for his father’s sins, and a father will not be punished for his son’s sins. The righteousness of the righteous person will be his own, and the wickedness of the wicked person will be his own. (Ezekiel 18:20)

God only sends judgment on nations who neglect the poor and who mistreat the aliens, and neglect the widows and orphans. Those who reject his Son are the ones who will suffer his judgment.

Earthquakes and wars and famines and disease are here because of sin in the universe from the first time sin was committed.

Sin is a personal thing not a national one unless you happen to be ISRAEL.

Hypocrites and a Saint

Sister Longtung arrived at church early to practice in the choir. She smiled broadly as she said hello to each of the other choir members. She than took her place to sing.

They sang Thank God for saving a sinner like me, and I want to be like Jesus everyday. She raised her hands and praised the Lord! They practiced until they got the song down perfect.

“Okay that’s it for tonight!” the choir director said. “It is now time to pray for the service.” They all knelt down at a pew and began to pray. “Oh God thank you for this and thank you for that.  Bless me and my family and take us all to heaven someday.” sister Longtung was heard to say. Sister Dufus said “Thank you Lord for all the blessings on my life.” Sister Moody shouted glory!”

After about thirty minutes of prayer they all stood and took their seats in the pews.

The church quickly filled as the clock neared service time which was 7 PM.

The pastor arrived. They all sang together. Then they all stood and testified. Then they all listened quietly while the preacher preached to them about the love of God and how he sent his Son to save us from our sins. He preached that we are to love and forgive others. That we are to reach out to the downcast and show them the love of God. He wiped his eyes as he told of the great price Jesus paid to redeem the sinners. That we need to be like him.

They all said Amen! Sister Longtung said “That is right and amen to that preacher.”

Finally the pastor dismissed and they all left the building.

As soon as they exited the building sister Longtung said, “I can’t believe the dress sister Poore was wearing tonight. Didn’t she wear that old thing the last two services?”  She sighed as she walked beside sister Dufus and sister Moody in the parking lot to their cars.

“Yes she did wear that ugly dress for the last two services.” sister Dufus answered, ” I think she dug it out of an old trash bin on Overtripp Drive where they have all those discount stores.”

Hearing this sister Moody laughed so loud others  in the parking lot turned to look at her.

“Well at least it was new when they tossed it out.” she offered. ” Oh yeah and I heard her husband got drunk last week and broke their second hand coffee table.” sister Dufus chimed in.

“I wouldn’t be surprised since he is nothing but an old sot!” sister Longtung laughed.

Sister Moody answered, “I told my husband about that weird couple and he said her loser husband lost his job for missing so much work because of his drinking.”

“I tell you I guess some people never learn how to do right.” explained sister Moody.

“I agree. Some people just don’t get it!” said sister Dufus.

Meanwhile sister Poore reaches home alone. She finds her husband sitting on the sofa with a beer in his hand. “Hi honey!” she says to him “How was your evening? I wish you had come to the service with me. They sang such lovely songs.”

“I don’t need to go to any church I told you!”

“I love you anyway. Would you like me to bring you anything before I sit down and relax on the sofa with you?” she asks as she kisses him on his cheek.

“Yes bring me a sandwich and chips. I’m done drinking for tonight.”

She brings the sandwich and chips, hands them to him with a smile. He says thanks and she sits down beside him.

“You know honey there are three sisters at church the Lord has laid on my heart to pray for. Sisters Dufus and Moody and Longtung. I don’t know why the Lord has so strongly laid them on my heart to pray for them.  But I am going to pray for them and even fast for them as I do for you to quit drinking. They are always so nice to me at church. They always have a smile and a kind word for me. They said to tell you they think you’re a great guy just going through some hard times. I agreed and I know that since the Lord changed my heart just a month ago he will do the same for you. I want you to know I am here for you. I love you very much.”

Her husband patted her hand and said, “Thank you I believe it too.”

Sisters Longtung and sister Dufus and sister Moody are three big reasons why many do not attend church and why so many hate church.

We need to look only at Christ as does sister Poore who prays instead of slandering others, backbiting,  gossiping and lying and mocking .

She knows the scripture says that faith works by love.

The SUN our light? (2)

As a christian I cannot view the sun as real light. It is a created light. A light spoke into existence by God. The great light to rule the day. Natural? yes. Real? no. Christ is the true Light there is no other Light to Light men but Jesus Christ.

This true light that is God lights every man that comes into the world. That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world. (John 1:19) Yet Jesus said to beware that the light that is in us be not darkness.Take heed therefore that the light which is in you be not darkness. (Luke 11:35)

Can light be darkness? Yes because Jesus said so.  That’s right he said so. Love others and walk in the light which is God’s love. Hate others and stumble in the darkness one can feel. That darkness that is evil that is terrifying that is death.

He said if the light that is in you be darkness how great is that darkness. But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matthew 6:23) He referred to the spiritual darkness that will overcome the man and shroud him in great darkness. If he reaches out his hand to iniquity.

How does the light that is in us when we are born, which is God, become darkness? Transgression against the laws of God. It is called sin.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (Matthew 6:24)

They may think they can serve God and Satan the world and the flesh, but they cannot do good and evil both and expect that light to shine. It cannot be. Satan will always compromise with God but God will never compromise with Satan. If evil is done the Lord cannot be there. He cannot be where sin and darkness are. Because he is LIGHT.

Atheists think that the world would be a better place without Christians. But without the Christians there would be that darkness Jesus Christ warned of.

Christ in the Christians is the light of the world.

1 John 1:5: This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

There is a darkness without the sun. If one could imagine a world without the sun he would see a terrifying world; a world of darkness and cold. I would imagine stark fear for one could not know what is there beside him. Or behind him or waiting to meet him. It is a fact that evil is present in the universe. It is real and without mercy. Darkness invites evil. Without the sun all things would die.

Evil men do their evil deeds in the darkness. They think they can hide there.

They lurk and wait in the darkness for their prey.

When one dies he goes where the sun doesn’t shine. There is no light beyond the grave. Jesus said he is the Light of the world. The world he said, but what of the other world that exists beyond the last breath?

Whoever has not considered his last breath has not considered. He who has not carefully regarded his life beyond his last breath has not regarded the fact that death is exactly that; death. Death is not the lack of existence it is the end of earthly awareness.

The sun is not our light. Christ is the true light and without him there is no light only darkness. No world can exist without the true light.

The world would be a dark cold terrifying place of instant death without the sun. Death for all life. Life comes from God alone it cannot be created in a lab or imagined into reality. Only God can create life. He is himself LIFE.

To die without the true light which is Jesus Christ,  is without doubt the great darkness Jesus warned of.

Don’t leave this world without Christ in you the hope of glory!

Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27)

In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness did not comprehend it.
[The light in every man shines in the darkness of man, pleading with him to forsake evil; but man in his darkness does not grasp what God is trying to explain to him.] (John 1:4-5)
